Many car fans consider the 1990s as a golden era for the Chrysler group, at least in terms of design. The company had the Viper, a full line of cab-forward cars, and futuristic-looking pickups and SUVs.

The Plymouth Prowler joined that party in 1997. It was meant to be a modern-day hot rod, and the style definitely delivered: the car had a unique external design that included open-wheel fenders.

It ended up selling less than expected because of its high price and the lack of a V8 engine. However, it is still remembered for such a daring interpretation of the retro design trend.

A particular high point of its short history is seen on the photo above. Plymouth addressed its little trunk space by offering an optional trailer that looked exactly like the car’s rear. Creative to say the least!
